Independent Rap Artists Reviewed: Krushayl

Ok... today we are doing something a little different. I am actually reviewing a mixtape before the actual drop. We are going to be discussing a few things that are great, and a few things that are not so great about the "Krushayl Music Wave" project coming soon to a radio near you. This is going to be a detailed analysis of the production, marketing and success possibilities, songwriting, and bonus breakdown  of the best song, and of course the worst song has to be analyzed as well... just to keep things on the edge!

* Production analysis: Overall for this mixtape so far... I give the production selection a rating of (7). Some beats are very promising, while others are just ear sores. The production did display some creative sparks here and there, like what I believed to be a clip of the saints post game hype up.. with Drew Brees giving some motivation to his team in the song "Again". The usage of the sample was great, but again even this beat fell short of amazing me. I definitely suggest that our friend takes more precaution in selecting beats, and make sure he has beats that will wow the crowd, and and top the charts.

* Best song analysis: Overall best song on this mixtape so far is "Thank You" is the best song. This song has the most marketability, and most creativity of all the songs on this project. Utilizing Kobe Bryant's success beyond success speech in a motivational and at the very last moment quite hilarious way, was a brilliant move. The beat again could have had a bit better mix... but who's counting when you have a song this good on your hands?

Honorable mention goes to the song "Hangover"... which was a great production selection for his style and gave his vocals space to breathe, allowing for a better mixing quality, if not the best mixed quality on this mixtape. The verses on this song though were not quite there , which made this song to me just a few points short of being the best song on this mixtape. However I believe this song will actually be the song favorite, just not a critics favorite. This song will be the song everybody is talking about.

* Worst song analysis: No song on this mixtape was a complete failure, but if I had to choose one song that just does not have what it takes, it would have to be "Blast Off". With arguably the worst piece of production on the mixtape, and I would say the least marketable hook, this is definitely the song that is the worst off right now. On the bright side, these verses are some of the best verses on the mixtape, which does give the song some hope with the fans.

* Songwriting analysis: Krushayl has a very unique style. His flows often times brought me deeper into the song, made me listen and at times even visualize. 90% of the songs do have good hooks, and good verses combined, which is what you are looking for if you plan on making a great mixtape.  Overall my rating for this album as far as songwriting goes is about a 7.5.

* Overall marketability and success prediction: When it comes to marketing music in the industry, there is a thin line between sellable and complete flop. This mixtape.... I give it a 7.5 / 8 on marketability so far. The success rate should be fairly good as far as getting support from potential, and pre-existing fans. I can't wait to hear the rest of this mixtape.
