There are probably over 5 million independent recording artists in the world today. Of that 5 million, over 4 million of them are probably not on the right path to success. The major music industry is locking down all major ways of promotion. The new intergrations with facebook and twitter are killing the independent buzz.
Still the independent music industry has a chance. If we can all find a way to come together, we can achieve a whole lot. All it takes is for one independent rapper to support another to get a movement going, and make things easier for us to succeed. We should be sharing the music of our fellow independent rivals in order to improve independence.
Why do we constantly support the major industry by liking, sharing, and commenting on their music. Kanye West has probably never commented on an independent music video once in his career. Yet, we continue to support his music and every other major recording artists career to the fullest.
The independent music industry has hope yet. Next time you see music from someone that you have never heard of... don't just browse away, share it with your friends. Help each independent recording artist that you see as you would if they were your favorite major artist. I for one am a professional music promoter who works with nothing but independent recording artist. I am always going to be in the market for independence.
My music promotion services are off limits to major record labels, and artists. I only work with independent rappers and singers. Some of you other music promoters, and producers should think the same. Reduce the prices on your beats and promotion services. Artists stop paying for fake views and work with a legit promoter. It costs a bit more but its worth it. Get your name out there as well as your music in a better way.

Is Real Hip Hop Music Finally Back? (AK the Rapper - Space Funk Flow)
A few days ago I got a call from one of my clients saying, "Focus I got a
new track for you bro". I took a listen to this track and was wowed by
the way he put it together. The 70's sample was well put together by the
producer, the lyrics were on point, and the music video is really dope.

How You Can Promote Your Music Better
Free Music Promotion Tips
by Focus the Producer
Tip #1: Start with asking your friends and family to share your music on their social networks. This gives you a guaranteed aid in promoting your music on a viral marketing plan. If you have 100 of your closest friends and family members share your music on facebook and twitter, that will be 200 links to your music sent out to however amount of friends they have in total.
Lets say each friend or family member has a total of 1,000 friends on facebook, and 1,000 followers on twitter. That gives you a potential reach of 200,000 people. Don't get too excited though... most likely all of those people will not look at your link. You should normally expect 2% to 5% of those people to check out your music.
So with the family and friends first approach, granted they actually have 1,000 friends on facebook and twitter you can expect 4,000 - 10,000 clicks through to your music. From that point your music will have to do the rest. If people really like it they will comment and share it with their friends as well. You could really get to a whole heap of views this way.
Tip #2: Sharing your music on forums can help out a whole lot. If you go to these websites and participate (meaning comment on other people's music) people will return the favor. Make sure you are sharing your music on actual forums that are based on music and that you read the forum rules before you share your music.
Tip #3: Sharing your music at peak times is very beneficial. Based on my research there are actually perfect times to share your music and here they are.
- 9am est, 12pm est, 3pm est, 6 pm est
Tip #4: Hiring a professional music promoter is something independent artists overlook. Even if you are working hard (3 to 5 hours per day or more) promoting your music, the benefits of having a great promoter on your team are endless. Your exposure will be more wide spread, as most professional music promoters normally have a better strategy, and more resources. This can come in handy seeing as its a well known fact that after exhausting all options to ask friends and family to listen and share, all other messages from an artist trying to self promote tends to look like spam.
The small amount out of pocket it takes to pay for good music promotion services now a days is well worth getting your music heard by more people, getting radio play that pays royalties, and getting the almighty right to feel accomplished.
WARNING! - There are a whole lot of promoters and music promotion services out there who are promising a certain set number of plays, or likes and other stats for a low price. Those are fake views and stats. If you get those you could be banned from certain websites. If you get those services and get away with it you still will have nothing to show for it but a whole lot of views. Make sure you find yourself a reliable music promotion service that will get you organic views, likes, plays, comments and downloads.

Music Marketing | How to Market Music | Best Music Promotion Services
What Is Music Marketing and how do you market music?
Music marketing is the process of promoting and selling your your music. There are different aspects to the marketing model that you must attain knowledge in, in order to achieve success in the music marketing world. Its called the 4 p's, which are People, Places, Price, and Product. You must know a whole lot of people in order to succeed in marketing your music. Most artists give away their product for free but its never a bad idea to put a price on it. Even 99cents would do well as a price for your music if you do choose to sell it. As for places there is twitter, facebook, google+ and many other social networking websites that would be great to promote your music on. If your music is good you will have a ton of success marketing the music you create.
First you must figure out your marketing approach and strategy. The spam route is never the way to go when marketing your music. Don't just start sending messages back and forth to people who never even asked to hear it. Your approach should be friendly, and welcoming when it comes to marketing your music. Have you ever thought about starting off promoting your music by saying hey, how are you? Maybe that person is having a bad day, and maybe that person is not even online at all but appears to be because their profile is still logged in. Either way once the conversation does get rolling you will be able to inject your music at a more appropriate time.
Whats an appropriate time to inject your music? When a person asks what you are up to today you could say "just promoting my new music video" or album whatever your promoting "would you like to check it out?". Maybe after a few interactions back and forth you can just bring your music up. Maybe you just say "hey I have a new music video out did you get a chance to look at it?". Either way there is always an appropriate way to market music and knowing how to market music is probably the most important part of being an artist next to having great music to listen to. If you have absolutely no idea what you are doing, the best thing for you to do is find some great music promotion services online and hire a professional music promoter to handle that department.

What The Right Beat Producer Can and Will Do For You
A Beat Producer Should Make You Hits!
When you go to a beat producer now a days you should be looking for one thing and one thing only, and that is a beat capable of making a hit record. You may find a beat producer online that has the best prices ever, but will his beats give you the hit you are looking for? So many beat producers online have a catalog of 100 beats or more, and none of them are capable of making a hit record. As an artist you have to be careful where you invest your money, so make sure the producer you find has classic material for you on the production end.
Don't go looking for the best deals online and settle for some mediocre track. Even if you can only invest in one beat from a beat producer with quality music production you should do that. The quality of that one record will take you a lot further than a full mixtape or album of sloppy records. Be very careful in selecting the producer that you want to work with. Weigh out your options and go with the best that you can find, not simply the guy with the best deals.
A Beat Producer Should Be Able To Promote You!
After you are done with the music where will you go from there? How will you get the music to the right people? As an artist you should also find a beat producer that has the ability to provide you with great music promotion services. You want a beat producer with the ability to get you radio spins, promote your music video to millions of fans, or get your mixtapes and albums to thousands of blogs, labels and Dj's for features and opportunities.
This is very important because not only will the radio spins get you paid royalties, but the exposure coming from being promoted to millions of fans can make you more relevant when a record deal is set on the table. Finding the right beat producer can be the difference between a mixtape with a couple hundred downloads and views, and a mixtape with one hundred thousand downloads and views. Ask your beat producer what they can do for you in that department. If they have no idea how to promote you the right way, you are talking to the wrong guy.
In the long run there are so many things that a real producer would do for you that these so called producers now a days don't even make an effort to do. Be fair to yourself and dedicate yourself to a producer that can get you to a better place in your music career. If you are looking for a beat producer like that check out Focus the Producer of dirtyscopebeatz.com, he has all of the tools to get you there. Dirtyscopebeatz.com provides quality music production, mastering, mixtape covers, music video promotion, mixtape and album promotion, radio promotion and more.

New Mixtape Review - Phillip Wolf - Philosophy 101
Mixtape Review
Artist: Phillip Wolf
Mixtape: Philosophy 101
Rating: 6/10 (Almost there)
Music is a tricky thing when it wants to be. Without the ear for it, the passion to create it or even listen to it is pointless. Most fans have no idea what they are listening to, all they hear are words and beats. Most artists don't know what they are creating, all they know is get on the mic and rhyme. Some artists do have a good sense of direction when it come to music though, and I feel like Phillip Wolf is one of them. This is the review of his latest mixtape "Philosophy 101". Don't let my 6/10 rating fool you, this project is an undeniably good piece of musical work that should not be slept on. Lets start by talking about the pros and cons here.
Pros
The lyrics are on point for this project. Phillip can really put his words together well. His music is also recorded at very good quality, the vocals are very dynamic. The project also has a very great selection of featured arists. No song was bad, they were all good in their own way.
Cons
Phillip could definitely work on his delivery a lot more. At times he seemed to struggle through lines, and rapped as if he may have either been reading of a page or practiced his bars for a very little amount of time. As for the mixtape there were way too many sample beats on there. The entire first half of the mixtape was sample after sample. I would definitely suggest that he find more original beats to work on for his next project, not just to mix it up but to give it a more creative feeling.
My Critique
I liked the more laid back side of Phillip Wolf. When he went for the more animated and playful style of rap it just seemed to be his weakness. He also needs to work more on his breathing, and swallowing techniques during verses. It seemed at times that he struggled through lines and just barely got them out. Next time around I suggest more songs like 'How Do It Feel' or 'Ms Dj'. Those songs really showed how creative and unpredictable he can get, and there was not enough of that on this mixtape.
My Final Thoughts
I would definitely say to Phillip Wolf "don't give up on your music". With a few minor adjustments this project could have easily jumped from a 6/10 to an 8/10. He has all of the tools needed to make a classic emcee, but has to learn how to put them to good use. I definitely suggest he seek out a producer with more experience and more willingness to guide him through his projects. The music was good, but he is very well capable of great. Last but not least I urge Phillip to start selling his music. Free downloads of your music make it worth less in the long run.
Ending this as I end many of my reviews, if approached by Phillip Wolf in the streets would I choose to support by purchasing "Philosophy 101"? Yes! I definitely would, I think this mixtape is worth the listen and worth the loot as well. Phillip Wolf I look forward to hearing what you come out with next.

Are Cover Songs The New Way To Get Signed To A Major Label?
When we were young there was no such thing as a cover song. We would listen to songs thousands of times to get the lyrics right, enjoy singing along, but appreciate a song enough not to go to an actual studio and re-record it for our on personal use. You remember the times our favorite old school artists were flooding the radio with classic material. Every singer and rapper on earth was in search of their own beat producer so that they could create a classic record of their own.
Now a days, singers and rappers have found a new way in to the main stream lime light by using covers of their favorite songs to gain attention. We see it every day on any and every site you can upload a piece of music. Artists with their own rendered versions of our favorite hits are flooding every network we communicate on daily. Although to some of us this may be annoying, to the artist this is a heaven sent gift from God himself. Finally a way to be recognized for their talents without needing the writing skills of a Lauryn Hill, or Mary J. Blige.
According to NPR Tyler Ward was able to buy a car and a house with money he made posting videos of himself covering pop hits on YouTube. Ward uses YouTube to promote his music career posting covers trying to gain new fans. He actually started out doing cover songs in the bar, trying to make ends meet. When he figured out what YouTube was, he just figured he could put these online, and see what happens. The end result was an opening slot for the Jonas Brothers on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, and a headlining tour through Europe, the U.S. and Canada.
So of course you can see why cover songs have become so important to the up and coming independent artists of the world. Every artist no matter what they do, wants their shot to perform on the big stage and show their talent. I myself have become a believer after many years of dreading the quickly growing cover song trend in the music industry. Maybe now after reading this article, the world will begin to pay more attention to the independent artists around the globe who are uploading cover songs right now to their favorites sites.
