Long before we became a society of ignorance, we had class. Music was a way of life that none dared to bring shame to. We rapped about the important things in life such as equality, and brotherhood. Love of music has led me to write this blog today, as a plea to all who would call themselves a rapper today. We need you now more than ever before, to take a stand.
As a rapper you have loads of power, and influence. Even the rapper with one fan, has one life in his hands. What he chooses to speak of becomes a blueprint to the way one should act, think, walk, talk, and even live. The rapper is slowly becoming the parents in today's society, seeing as kids now a days are starting to listen to rap music more than they listen to mom and dad.
As an artist your job is to paint pictures, and create masterpieces.. Your job is not to destroy cities, and undo history. Yet as an artist if you chose to paint anything at all you choose to paint death and destruction. Never have I seen such a blatant dis-regard for humanity. Is this it for the world?... are we done? Because if we continue to make this type of music we are sure to perish more sooner than later.
Have you read this far into my message?... and does it even matter that I am writing this to you. Rapper, you call yourself a brother, a father, a son, and seek to kill those who play the same roles in different lives. Sure there will be killers on the streets with out murder in your raps, yes there will be pushers on the streets without drugs in your raps, and yes there will be promiscuous women selling their bodies to the highest bidder, with out you talking about how you want to see her shake her rum all day long. Yes!
Still I ask you do do one thing, and that's PAUSE.... THINK...... VISUALIZE. Tomorrow you have a child. You blink your eyes and just like that you have a teenager, you blink your eyes and just like that they are gone before their time. Victims of crime, or victims of rhyme? Your heart suddenly feels the pain that you have caused to another mother, or father. Rappers we need you to make a change, and help reverse the curse, with one verse we can eliminate one hertz. This is the truth, and we all know it.
The problem is that most rappers are afraid. Don't be afraid to speak with common sense, and use what knowledge you may have of the world to keep peace, and reduce the conflict within our communities. Stop killing our children with your stupidity. Rap about something that matters the next time you step in the booth, and push it just as hard as you push your songs about death, destruction, murder, and chaos. Push it harder because it will allow all of us to live longer, more peaceful lives.
Thank you for reading, and be sure to share this with your friends!
