Unsigned Rappers - Mixtape Reviews - The Statement

Mixtape Review for Q w/ The Statement

I am happy to be back again talking about new independent music. Its time to review a mixtape called "The Statement - by - Q", (feel free to listen as you read). After the first song I already said to myself, I want to hear this full mixtape. When I made it to the fifth song, I had a feeling of "wow I am really becoming a fan".  This is not my first time hearing "Q",  a young unsigned rapper from Flint, Michigan, graced me with some of his music a few months ago. On the grand side of things, he has really grown in to a more fitting flow, and seems to really be finding his style.

The Pros

This mixtape had very good lyrical content. There was never a point where I felt like he may have been just rambling. He did give you something to listen to in his verses, and some good meaning in his hooks 90% of the time. This was a good mixtape in terms of being worth the initial listen. As for it becoming the crucial choice of the genius on your iPod, that is up to you, but I think there are definitely one or two songs on this mixtape worth the iPod selection choice.

The Plagues

There were very few problems that are plaguing, this mixtape. There did seem to be a loss of energy, or just the fact that the mixtape never picked up speed at the end of the mixtape. This mixtape sort of kept the same mood and same tempo the entire time. Maybe a well planned thing, or maybe the effects of a producer stuck in one mode all day, who knows. What I do know is, this mixtape definitely needed a few more tracks with some life. Last Days on the mixtape was the closest thing to hiving some life on this tape, and that track was #10 on the mixtape, and was still a ballad, nothing to really move your legs too, and have fun.

Go and give this mixtape a listen of your own, and formulate your own opinion. Give the unsigned rapper a chance to shine in your everyday life. Download the mixtape to show your support if you really enjoy what you hear.
