Independent Rap Artists Reviewed: Marcus Ford

We review 10 different aspects of the music, from production , to performance. Letting the world know what exactly we think about this artist and his music. As for Marcus I must say he chose some really great production. Beats ranging from high powered epic tracks, to slapping dirty south beats, and more. Points in his project could use some touch ups on the production side but, beats are nice.

I am going to have to be tough on the young cat though, and say at times he lacks the originality that is needed to take him to the next level. Most times he has some very original ideas, but he lets himself slip into the normal every once in a while. I can definitely say though, his sound quality to me is good enough to put on the market and sell. No clipping or distortion going on in his music. His lyrical style is pretty good... definitely better than most rappers that I hear, and his vocals are unique. His artistic themes are fairly well offm considering the fact that this is a totally independent project. I definitely hear some tracks like, "Faker" that with some slight adjustments could make it to the radio. A lot of his music could make it to that point.


Marcus Ford's weakest point is his General Performance. He has great lyrics but at times does not "Say it like he means it". Spitting from the heart, and bringing that energy from the gut is definitely something he is going to have to learn. He has to turn the mic down, and turn the heat on those emotions up! The composition at times is a bit dull, and repetitious, he is going to have to learn how to incorporate a few bridges in there, and maybe it goes back to his delivery. Maybe just the way he delivers it makes it seem that way at times, and I just need to hear the new improved Marcus Ford. I will be awaiting that new music patiently expecting perfection.

Was the music entertaining, yes it was. Matter of fact it was very entertaining, but its my job to point out the good with the bad.  Overall the kid has alot of skills, and I am willing to say if he continues with his career after this point, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Marcus Ford is one of the illest young independent rap artists out there. For the love of music I would say this is actually good enough to pay for. I only hope he is out there getting what he deserves. I can tell he worked hard on this, and he deserves to be compensated.
